I have gathered the majority of what I know about computers, servers, routers, etc. from the School of Hard Knocks (”break, learn, fix, repeat”), but I did not want to take that approach with my shiny new site.
Enter my dear friend Jenn. As someone who has been using WordPress on her site for quite a while, she has been instrumental in getting this site up and running.
Putting all this together has been an experiment in learned humility thus far. Dammit, I built Jenn’s PC for her…how can she know more about this stuff than me? This is one of the irrational thoughts with which I had to wrestle. It may seem perfectly logical to most people to learn from those with more experience, but it can be hard for a crabby old geek to accept tutelage from someone who was in 8th grade when he got his first “real” PC-related job. Sad but true.
Here is the best quote from her thus far:
Let’s take baby steps into the world of WordPress. LOL
I’ve been reduced to baby steps. Oh well. I suspect it is good for me.
Now damnit, I’m just trying to keep you from making my mistakes. How many times have I lost complete websites trying to update or play with settings?
No need to throw age in there either you old fart
Don’t think your help is unappreciated, Jenn, because it is a great help. All I am saying is that it can be tough for me to accept help at times.
